Animals in Jeopardy – Art Show 2016

The big idea for the Arts Kidz Tiong Bahru – Art Show 2016 was to focus our learning on “Animals in Jeopardy”. Through the teachers’ guidance and by the curiosity and interest of the children, the little ones started to have an interest in many topics related to our theme including the plight of circus animals, the first drawings of animals by prehistory man, the fate of the last white rhinoceros and more.

During the Art Show, parents expressed that the children was so capable to understand the concept of “poaching”. We also saw the children initiate a “poaching” game acting out the impact on endangered species. We were seeing the Arts in action, as a springboard for further learning though high engagement with the topic. The children’s pieces were at times provocative and caused parents to engage in conversation about the issues at hand.
